Beh, rispondo io che sono esattamente l'ultimo degli ultimi in quanto a Joomla&Co. (esperienza di 3 -tre!- giorni), ma l'ho installato venerdì perciò forse ho la risposta. Anche perchè ti copio pari pari il readme che ho trovato nel pacchetto del componente Joomla_SMF_Forum. A me in locale ha funzionato tutto al primo colpo, a giorni lo rifarò in remoto e vedremo...

6. **At this point there should be no red text in the configuration screen. If you still see red text this indicates a problem that should be recorded and reported. Click the link 'click to patch' in front of the text 'Patch Joomla Source files.
7. **At this point the link should change and now show 'done[un-patch]'. An error message at the top of the screen should be recorded and reported. Click the link 'click to patch' in front of the text 'Patch SMF Source Files'.
8. **At this point the link should change and now show 'done[un-patch]'. An error message at the top of the screen should be recorded and reported. Click the link 'click to sync' in front of the text 'Synchronize Joomla and SMF users.
