il mio sito mi dà il seguente messaggio:

cosa succede se non passo al 5.6 o successive e lascio così?

al momento non succede nulla, però considera che le versioni successive di php sono più veloci e più sicure e che prima o poi dovrai per forza passare ad una versione php successiva.
