a me ha funzionato cosi:

.nav-pills > li > a {
    padding-top: 8px;
    padding-bottom: 8px;
    margin-top: 2px;
    margin-bottom: 2px;
    -webkit-border-radius: 5px;
    -moz-border-radius: 5px;
    border-radius: 5px;
    font-size: 16px;
