Gallerie di immagini / mediaGallery question

Hi,
 
 I have difficulties to get the categories/sub-categories system in mediaGallery. On the flashnifties's site I found:
 
 Unlimited Levels of Categories/Sub-categories - There is NO LIMIT to the number of categories, or levels of sub-categories. http://www.flashnifties.com/media_gallery.php
 
 but no description of it. I tryed the oziogallery2/folder/subfolder way with auto xml, doesn't works...
 I would like to create a gallery with 8-9 categories and in all categories create the events group by year as sub-category. ex:
 - excursions (category)
 -- 2009 (sub-category)
 -- 2010 (sub-category)
 -- 2011 (sub-category)
 - carnivals (category)
 -- 2009 (sub-category)
 -- 2010 (sub-category)
 -- 2011 (sub-category)
 
 and the rest...
