problema htaccess

Ciao,

ho un problema con joomla e l'htaccess.
in pratica vorrei utilizzare l'htaccess per il mod_rewrite ma non riesco ad abilitarlo!

In pratica ora il sito ha la spunta su "yes" di Search Engine Friendly URLs e funziona il mod_rewrite (ma non è dettato dall'htaccess).
Infatti se provo a mettere su "no", rinominare l'htaccess.txt in .htaccess e spuntare la casella di Use URL rewriting su "yes" non mi riscrive gli url!
il sito funziona ma credo che l'htaccess non venga ancora preso in considerazione..

E' urgente, devo impostare una direttiva dentro l'htaccess, però purtroppo non va! cosa sbaglio?!?

Se invece imposto su "yes" queste due opzioni dall'amministrazione e rinomino l'htaccess.txt in .htaccess
il sito quando clicco sui link del menu non vanno, perchè sono cosi: miosito/product

mentre se tolgo Yes da Search Engine Friendly URLs i link del menu funzionano ma non sono ottimizzati...

Più che indicare ove sei che trattandosi di un servizio commerciale è quindi vietato, dicci su che tipo di server sei.

è linux (apache), ma la macchina è tutta configurabile da me..ho accesso a tutti i file..!
quindi la cosa che mi serve è che mi vengano spiegate tutte le opzioni e le cose che devono essere fatte per far funzionare l'htaccess.

Ti spiego, io devo mettere nell'.htaccess questa direttiva:
"DirectoryIndex launch.php"
Che, in pratica, serve che quando uno clicca su www.miosito.it non apre la pagina di joomla (index.php) ma bensi launch.php
Solo che non funziona.

Inoltre che impostazione devo mettere per far si che joomla prenda l'htaccess??
intendo queste due opzioni:
Search Engine Friendly URLs
Use URL Rewrite

(ripeto se lascio su attivo il primo parametro e il secondo no, joomla mi riscrive in automatico correttamente gli URL (in questo modo: www.miosito.it/index.php/PAGINA ..se invece attivo anche la seconda opzione me li riscrive cosi: www.miosito.it/PAGINA il che però non mi apre nessuna pagina (errore 404) ).

non so piu dove mettere le mani o cosa cambiare...potresti spiegarmi tutte le cose che devono essere fatte?
partendo proprio da zero, cosi evitiamo incomprensioni..
